Of the 280,646 people residing in Erie County in 2012, 249,864 (89.0%) were White, 20,808 (7.4%) were Black or African American, 3,504 (1.2%) were Asian, 665 (0.2%) were American Indian or Alaska Native, 123 (0.04%) were Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, and 5,682 (2.0%) were classified as Two or More Races.
